The great threat

Seven volunteers and one big question: Michèle Borcherding, Clemens Justus, Luca Hoffmann, Julius Nieweler, Clara Veihelmann, Sergen Kaya, and Tobias Wellnitz spent weeks researching the story "The Great Threat! Is Russia Really Behind It?". In collaboration with BILD, WELT, and the Global Reporters Network, and with the help of AI, the volunteers systematically analyzed large amounts of public data and internal reports on drone incidents in Germany in 2025. AI helped the six Academy students identify patterns, hotspots, and temporal and geographical correlations. The research garnered international attention and sparked intense discussion. Scrollytelling about political extremism online: We show how right-wing, left-wing, and Islamist influencers affect young people online—sometimes radicalizing them—and what role platforms and algorithms play in this. To do this, we met with influencers and asked them about their responsibility. We spoke with people who have left the scene—and with newcomers who are gradually moving into political bubbles via social media. The virtual protagonist, Elli, explains complex topics like climate change and migration in an understandable and emotionally engaging way. The personal story of Alon Gat is the focus of this multimedia live-ticker chronicle, which reconstructs his dramatic experiences through an exclusive series of short video interviews. The videos are complemented by news articles that contextualize the events with today's knowledge. Rap, Business, Women

In the three-part podcast feature "Rap, Business, Women," we take a closer look at the role of women in the German rap industry. We examine the challenges, but also the opportunities, they face. You'll hear from female rappers like Kitty Kat, Shoki, and Lady Bitch Ray, who enrich the genre with their voices. To coincide with the European Football Championship, the series "Home Game – In the Footsteps of Our European Championship Heroes" was developed. It's a five-part video show, each episode focusing on a different player from the German squad. JOBjektiv
Team 34
Young people are often accused of being lazy – and thus responsible for the shortage of skilled workers in many industries. Team 34 takes an informative, playful, and critical look at sectors where workers are urgently needed. JOBjektiv was created in collaboration with WELT, Stepstone, and Snap. The project takes a completely new approach to storytelling through an augmented reality lens, which users are directed to immediately after the video presentation.

The five-part video series features female journalists and activists who have been threatened and imprisoned for their work to fight for justice. The team used AI to achieve better and faster results. The technology was applied where it made sense within the journalistic context. The results can be seen here .
