-
Information about the accessing device and the software used
-
Date and time of access
-
Websites from which you access our website or which you visit via our website

Our servers also store your IP address for up to 14 days for the purpose and in the interest of ensuring the security of our services. The legal basis for this is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
4. PLACE OF PROCESSING
We also process personal data in countries outside the European Economic Area ('EEA'), including the USA. Standard Contractual Clauses .
5. RETENTION PERIOD
We process personal data only for as long as necessary for the respective purpose stated in this Privacy Policy. The personal data will subsequently be deleted, unless statutory retention obligations prevent deletion.
II. YOUR RIGHTS AS A DATA SUBJECT
1. ACCESS, RECTIFICATION, ERASURE, RESTRICTION AND THE RIGHT TO ERASURE
You may at any time request from us, free of charge, information as to whether personal data relating to you is being processed by us and specifically which data is stored about you, and request a copy of the stored data. You may also have inaccurate data corrected and completed.
You may also request the erasure and restriction of the processing of your personal data to the extent that the purposes for which they were collected are no longer required, or where the processing is based on your consent and you have withdrawn your consent. Please note that statutory retention obligations may apply and that we may therefore not be permitted to erase your data in every case; we also reserve the right to store the data until the expiry of statutory limitation periods. In such cases, your data will be marked with a view to restricting its future processing.
2. DATA PORTABILITY
Where applicable, you also have the right to receive the personal data concerning you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, or to have it transmitted to another controller, provided that the processing is based on consent or a contract and is carried out by automated means. This does not apply, however, where the processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller. You also have the right to have the personal data transmitted directly from one controller to another, insofar as this is technically feasible and provided that the rights and freedoms of other persons are not adversely affected.
3. WITHDRAWAL / OBJECTION
You have the right to withdraw any consent you have given at any time by notifying us at the contact details set out above.
You may object to the processing of your personal data for the purpose of direct marketing at any time by notifying us at datenschutz@axelspringer.de or Axel-Springer-Str. 65, 10888 Berlin, without incurring any costs other than the transmission costs at the basic rates.
You also have the right, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you which is carried out on the basis of a legitimate or public interest. In the event of an objection, we will no longer process the personal data unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing serves the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims.
4. RIGHT TO LODGE A COMPLAINT
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority and to seek judicial remedies. The supervisory authority with which the complaint has been lodged shall inform the complainant of the progress and outcome of the complaint, including the possibility of a judicial remedy.
5. EXISTENCE OF AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING
We do not engage in automated decision-making or profiling within the meaning of Art. 22 GDPR.
III. COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES
Cookies are small files stored by the browser on your device in a designated directory. They can be used, among other things, to determine whether you have previously visited a website. Many cookies contain a so-called cookie ID. A cookie ID is a unique identifier of the cookie. It consists of a string of characters by which websites and servers can be assigned to the specific internet browser in which the cookie was stored. This enables visited websites and servers to distinguish the individual browser from other internet browsers that contain different cookies. A specific internet browser can be recognised and identified via the unique cookie ID. Cookies cannot identify you as a person without additional information.
In order to provide our services, ensure website security, prevent fraud, fix errors and technically deliver content on the website, the use of certain cookies and similar technologies is necessary (special category: strictly necessary). The use of these cookies is required so that we can provide the service you have requested. Furthermore, the settings made by you or the consents and objections given by you are stored in cookies on your terminal device.
In all other respects, we only use further cookies and similar technologies on this website subject to your consent or on the basis of our legitimate interests. These are used by us and our partners to store and process data on your terminal device, including for the purposes of analysing website usage, improving performance and displaying content from social networks and third-party providers. Without granting consent to the setting of cookies, not all functions of our website may be fully available.
In our interest and for the purpose of measuring the reach of our services, we use general, non-personal reach measurement. This is used to analyse website usage and measure performance in order to report on how content was delivered to users and how users interacted with it. For this purpose, however, it is necessary to process your IP address when you access our website for the duration of the browser session. To this end, we have concluded a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR) with Wix.com Ltd., Yunitsman 5 St, Tel Aviv, Israel. We remain the controller. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR. You have the right to withdraw your consent or to object to the data processing on the basis of legitimate interests at any time.

We use the services of SmartRecruiters GmbH, Wilhelmstraße 118, 10963 Berlin (hereinafter 'SmartRecruiters') to provide our services, with whom we have concluded a data processing agreement (Art. 28 GDPR). We remain the controller pursuant to Art. 4 (7) GDPR for the processing of personal data carried out via this service, unless otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy. We process the personal data transmitted by you for the purpose of conducting the application process. The legal basis for this is Art. 88 (1) GDPR in conjunction with § 26 (1), (8) sentence 2 of the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG).
2. REGISTRATION
We also offer you the possibility to register with our journalism school. If you make use of this option, we will process the personal data you provide during registration for the purpose of informing you by e-mail about the next application opening. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR.
V. NEWSLETTER AND CONTACT
If you have subscribed to one of our mailings or newsletters, we process your e-mail address in order to send you the newsletter you have subscribed to. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (a) GDPR. You may withdraw your consent at any time with effect for the future or unsubscribe from the newsletter you have ordered, for example by clicking the unsubscribe link provided in each newsletter.
When you contact us, for example via our contact forms or by e-mail, the data you provide (e.g. your e-mail address, and where applicable your name and telephone number, etc.) will be processed by us in order to handle your enquiry and, if necessary, to contact you. The data arising in this context will be deleted when it is no longer required for the aforementioned purpose, provided that no statutory retention obligations prevent deletion. The legal basis for data processing is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR.
VI. SOCIAL MEDIA
1. SOCIAL PLUGINS
No social media plugins that directly load data from the servers of the respective social media providers are integrated on this website. The integrated 'plugins' are merely simple links to the respective third-party sites, which we illustrate with corresponding graphics. Accordingly, no personal data is transmitted to the operator of the social media service via the well-known plugins. Within the scope of Page Insights, we ourselves only receive anonymised statistics — we have no access to personal data processed by Facebook. The processing of anonymised data by us is carried out on the basis of statutory provisions that permit us to process personal data because we have an overriding legitimate interest in gaining a better understanding of the interests of visitors to our Fan Page (Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR).
